History of URBaCSFrom Homebuilding to Web Development
It may seem odd to see so much talk about change on a company's About Us page. Hopefully it won't take long for you to realize that we're not your typical kind of company.
URBaCS was created in 2006 and was built around one big idea. We, Rob Wagoner and Jayson Manship, both worked for a local Indianapolis homebuilder when the housing market started going down the drain. We dreamed up a way to use the power of the internet to spread a homebuilder's message and worked with Ice Miller LLP to secure our first million dollar idea. But before we even got started they advised us to find a better name than Referral Builder, which is how the name URBaCS was born (thanks to graphic designer Brooke Girard for creating our logo).
We built the application from scratch and called it URBaCS Referral Builder. We landed a couple of big name local clients right away (The Estridge Companies and C.P. Morgan) but quickly discovered that selling a new product to a beaten up industry proved harder than we imagined. Builders were going out of business and most implemented complete spending freezes.
So we started looking into business opportunities in similar markets. In March of 2009 we launched URBaCS Lead Builder, which is a text-messaging application for Builders, Realtors and FSBOs. It was slow to take off because of the struggling economy, but because of this venture we have now become a full fledged SMS service provider.
Now we've opened our doors to companies big and small both inside and outside the real estate industry. Check out a list of some of the clients we've worked with. This doesn't mean that we're willing to work with just anyone. We work hard to build partner-like relationships with our clients, so we aren't interested in doing business to simply make money. We have expanded our service offerings and our back-end support to build more than just websites or text clubs. We build ideas. Rob Wagoner - President
Rob has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience. He started his career during college selling footwear and sports apparel for Finish Line in Muncie, Indiana. He then sold insurance for MetLife, and has spent the last 15 years in new home sales. Rob has worked as both a salesperson and sales manager.
Jayson Manship - Director of Operations
Jayson graduated from Ball State University in 2005 with degrees in Accounting, Information Systems and Entrepreneurship. Before URBaCS, he has worked for Hansen & Horn, Information Systems Resources, and Pacers Sports and Entertainment.
Tyson Mowery - Sixth man
Tyson graduated with a Computer Engineering degree from Purdue University in 2004. He has experience with multiple programming languages, computer hardware and graphic design.
