Lennar, #2 on the 2007 Builder 100 list, is leading the way amongst big builders in social media.
Their new promotion, “What Does Home Mean to You?” asks homeowners to submit pictures and videos with their definition of “home.” They are using Facebook to collect the pictures/videos and to get people talking about the contest.
Their Facebook page is very well developed and includes events, discussions, links and news in addition to pictures and videos. They’ve even built Fan Pages for 30+ markets.
At the time of this post they have 359 fans, myself included.
This is working because they are asking for input…not just pushing sales promotions. They are engaging homeowners and encouraging them to provide content. This open-ended conversation creates fans and not just clients.
Oh, and the only cost to do a promotion like this is the prize. A new iMac.
Exposure, buzz and viral marketing…for a mere $1,800.
